Dani's Spring Nail Art!

Hi girls!
I recently saw Danielle (Ablogfromblackpool) post her cute Simple Spring Nail Art on her blog and thought it was lovely so I gave it a go!
Go visit her blog, she has loads of fab nail art tutorials as well as other interesting posts!

I simply used two coats of Barry M's Turquoise and dotted white and yellow to make the daisies with my cheapy ebay dotting tool. Easy peasy!

Happy Spring everyone!

March Favourites

Here's some of the products I've been enjoying this month!

Batiste Dry Shampoo with a hint of colour. Dark and deep brown. - I will definitely be repurchasing this product over the original Batiste dry shampoo purely because the hint of colour added is so amazing. Because I have dark hair, the original formula tended to make my hair look talcy and even more dirty, whereas this formula makes my hair full of volume and rids it of greasy roots. Love it!

Maybelline Great Lash Mascara in waterproof. - The only mascara that will hold a curl in my lashes. Pain in the arse to remove but absolutely great as a base for my Benefit Bad Gal Lash mascara.

Urban Decay Primer Potion in new packaging. - I ran out of my old primer potion recently and decided to re purchase in the new packaging. I absolutely love it. Same old, fantastic product in a fantastic new tube. No waste and no ugly, un-hygienic applicator. Brill.

Stella by Stella McCartney ADP. - Worn this perfume all month and loved it. Still wish I had my favourite Calvin Klein Euphoria but this one is a worthy second place favourite.

Aveeno Positively Radiant Triple Boost Serum. - Smells lovely, evens out skin tone, moisturises and hydrates.

Oilatum Natural Repair moisturiser. - A lovely moisturiser for after your cleansing routine and before your makeup. Not too oily and doesn't sit on your skin.

Samantha Chapman Real Techniques Buffing Brush and Powder Brush. - Not a lot I can say to praise these brushes enough. Absolutely brilliant!

O.O.T.D. 30/03/12 & Zara jacket

Today I had to get up early and take my car into the garage again to get my replacement heater fitted (which was a nightmare as to get to the garage, the only way to go is past a petrol station which was super duper, duper busy because of every bloody person panic buying petrol!)

I wanted to be comfortable so I just threw on the following outfit and I actually really, really love it! Here's what I wore:

Safari khaki jacket with leather sleeves is from Zara and is my new favourite coat for the spring. You can purchase it HERE as it is still in the current Zara collection.

I have been looking for a simple white, low cut, racer back tank for the past...forever. I've FINALLY found the perfect one. Perfect length, not too seethrough, perfect shape. You can get them from New Look and they cost £4.99 - available in black and white. I just looked online though and they seem to be selling out fast, there are only limited sizes left online.

The basic hoodie underneath is by Henry Holland from Debenhams ages ago in the sale. I wore it underneath as the sun has now disappeared and it's gone back to being freezing cold!

Bag is the Rocco by Alexander Wang.
Leggings are plain black, simple leggings by Topshop.

Shoes are from Zara, again! Can't get enough of these at the moment! So comfy. Available HERE.

Have a lovely day, people!

A little trip to the seaside!

The weather has been lovely where I am this week so the boyf and I decided to make the most of the sunshine and have a little stroll down the beach.

It was lovely and warm, I had a bandeau top and shorts on and didn't even need to wear my cardi!

It's a "family thing" that whenever we're on a beach with pebbles on we always have a look to see how many faces we can see looking back at us. We like to call them Smiley Stones and we have a little collection in our house, which I'll have to show you some time...  Anyway, here are the little lookers we spotted on our walk across the beach.

This guy below nearly got taken home with me but he was sat next to a sad looking stone so I decided to leave him there so he could cheer his friend up.

This guy, however, came home with me...

Along with this little one!

We also saw some massive nuts.
;)
(I'm aware they're actually bolts!)

I braved the quick sand to do a bit of skimming stones. Very unsuccessfully.

I also got mud all over my lovely shoes.

But I had fish and chips to make up for it! D was very good and had a healthy ham salad sandwich. I was just a fatty and ate all of this.

We then gambled our savings away in the arcade...

...and I had a little boogie to Steps and Cotton Eye Joe.

Hope you're all enjoying the sun, if you have any!
Everything I'm wearing is from Topshop ages ago apart from the shorts which are from ebay.

O.O.T.D. 25/03/12 for sunny days!

Here's what I wore today (well, this morning at least! I'm sat in my pyjamas again now!) It's a lovely Spring day here with the temperature at 17 degrees at the moment so I'm currently sat in the garden watching the cats sunbathe. I just dropped boyf off at work, poor him, so I thought I'd take the opportunity to have a nice relax in the sunshine.

Frilly polka dot dress is from the Charity Shop but originally from Next.
Belt is from Primark

I  have nude tights on (because my legs are pasty pasty!) from M&S.
Bag is by Alexander Wang.

I dyed my hair back brown by the way, did you guys notice! Ombre didn't last long haha, I hated it!

Skull studded pumps are from Zara.

Pearl earring from Dorothy Perkins.
Cross earring from Topshop.
Skull 'toe'/knuckle ring from Topshop as well.
Tragus piercing seems to be healing well, as does the top inner helix, but my first inner helix (done in November!) is still playing up! Can't wait to get the rings out and get some little studs in instead. Just a waiting game, I guess!

I'm wearing Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum foundation, applied with a Real Techniques buffing brush (amaze!)
And I just have a mixture of eyeshadow colours on from the Urban Decay Naked 2 Pallette.

See you soon, guys!

O.O.T.D. 24/03/12 and a statement jacket.

Outift of the day for a wander around town.
Nothing too special, it was nice and warm so thought I'd go for a quick walk before meeting the boyf from work. I wanted to wear something simple and confortable so I opted for plain black outfit with a statement jacket. Hope you like it, and it perhaps gives you some ideas!

Bag, as usual, is by Alexander Wang.

Black basic tshirt from Dorothy Perkins.
Black skinny jeans from Topshop.

Studded cream leather jacket from Topshop.

Skull studded pumps from Zara. (Current season)

See you soon, ladies! Hope you're all having as lovely weather as I am over here!

In search of free art!

Look at this little beauty I was lucky enough to find last night!

He was hidden by graffiti artist My Dog Sighs (for Free Art Friday) who is currently in my local area!

My new little buddy was lovingly made out of an old baked beans tin. How cute his he! I had to scramble around the sea wall on the promenade and risk my life and limbs to get my hands on this little baby!

I will add links to My Dog Sighs whn I'm next on my laptop as I'm currently lapping up the sun in my back garden! Hurray for sunny weather, boo for the clocks going forward tonight!

How to: Ace a phone interview.

Hi guys. Bit of a different post from me today but I just thought some of you may be interested to read.

Today I had a phone interview with a potential employer. I currently work in retail and have applied for a management position within the company. I passed the first stage of recruitment process which involved filling in an online application form. The next stage was then to organise a telephone interview.
I'd never had a telephone interview before and was very nervous but there is nothing to worry about as long as you're prepared.

I just thought I'd share with you some of the things I did and didn't do, perhaps it will give you some ideas if you ever have a situation like this. (Which I'm guessing everybody will at some point if they're applying for a job!)

First and foremost. PREPARE!
Preparation is the most important thing you can do in order to not fluff your interview. If you're applying for a job and you think there may be a chance that the employer will want to conduct an interview with you over the phone then make sure, from the earliest time possible, you prepare yourself!

Read up on the company you're hoping to join. Get to know what they're about. You may be asked about the history or the current state of the company. Perhaps they may even ask you about the work ethics and policies of the workplace. Scour their website and write down any relevant information you think may be useful to drop into conversation.

I imagined what sorts of questions I thought they were likely to ask. If you don't have any ideas then you should try google. I searched for "common interview questions" and "what employers ask on a phone interview", for example. You will find realms of different ideas of questions for different types of jobs.

It is likely that the interviewer will ask a few core questions. For example, what are your strengths/weaknesses? Give an example of a time when you've shown leadership/teamwork skills? Where do you see yourself in 1/2/3/4/5 years? What do you understand about the job you're applying for?

Make notes on the questions you think may crop up. Keep the notes clear and precise. Bullet points are best so you can skim over them quickly whilst the interview is taking place. It is better to have the point written down and then you can speak about it there and then rather than reading a pre written script, which will sound very clunky and obvious to the interviewer.

I ended up writing around 10 pages of notes all together about a number of questions that I thought would be asked. I know this may be a little overboard for some but I wanted to cover all my bases.

I wrote a bit about the company and their ethics. Because this was a retail interview, I wrote a little on what I thought was meant by "Good customer service.." and why I would love to work for the company in question. Along with that I also wrote down a  few examples of when I have shown my skills in leadership/teamwork/going above and beyond/dealing with the customers etc.

Furthermore, I made a few notes of my strengths and weaknesses and why I would be the perfect candidate for the job. What skills do I have that match the needs of the job description? Remember, they don't want to know if you're "good at bowling" or "pride yourself on facebook stalking skills", make sure you make your points relevant to the job you're appling for. Are you intuitive, self motivated? Are you focussed on results and pride yourself on making sure a job is done properly? Maybe you have previous experience or you might be a fast learner who picks up new skills quickly? Are you reliable, polite and punctual?

It's all a guessing game as to what you think you will be asked but as long as you have a few notes written down and you sound confident, friendly and enthusiastic, nothing really can go wrong... as long as you're prepared.

Without a doubt you will definitely be asked at the end of the interview if you have anything you would like to ask. Whatever you do, do not say, "no". Make sure you have a couple of questions pre prepared as it will show the interviewer that you are keen to know more about the job and willing to ask questions, no matter how simple the answer may be!
As well as this, make sure you don't answer any question with, "I don't know." If you have to, make something up on the spot - refer to your notes and adapt something you've written to the question you've been asked.

Now for tips on the day of the interview
I made sure I had re read my notes prior to the interview so they were clear in my head.

Make sure you're in a quiet place. There will be nothing worse than noisy family members or pets, ringing mobiles or music playing in the background.

Set up your space. I chose to sit on the floor in my bedroom. I surrounded myself with the notes I had made, so I wouldn't be flicking through them during the interview. Some people find it more exhilarating to stand up and walk around during an interview. This is more of a psychological thing as you feel more confident and in control if you're standing up.

If you completed a written application prior to the interview, have it in front of you as well. I had mine on my laptop to the side of me. (Make sure you have your volume on silent so you don't accidently set off your favourite song!) This is what the interviewer will have in front of them and they will most likely refer to sections of it during your chat. Mine definitely did. It also means you can refer back to what you wrote in it, too.

Have a drink of water or juice by you as you will probably be talking from somewhere between half an hour and an hour. You don't want to get a dry mouth half way through.

Also make sure you have a pen handy, just incase you need to jot down any notes during or after the interview. It's surprising how fast you forget what has been said, especially if you're nervous!

Other than that, just get yourself comfortable and make sure you have your phone near you so you don't miss the call! Relax, be enthusiastic and try to sound confident, even if you're really not!
I was on the phone for half an hour and it only felt like ten minutes. You will be fine as long as you are prepared and have an idea of what you are going to say.

I was told at the end of the interview that I would be contacted within five working days letting me know whether my interview had been successful or unsuccessful . Half an hour later I received an email inviting me back for another, face to face interview...so I must have done something right!

If you have an interview coming up, GOOD LUCK! I hope this helps somebody along the way!
