Brock Bottom Valley

Some photos from our trip to Brock Bottom in Claughton.

The drive in was scary...

We found a fallen tree which had hundreds of coins hammered into it by various passer-bys.

So we decided to add our own.

I'm wearing a Penfield coat, Primark hoody and tshirt, Cheap Monday jeans, Dr Martens boots and Topshop backpack.

Found a lone Buttercup so took it on the walk with us.

D also spotted a Rope Swing and I had a go...

...and absolutely crapped myself.

D was a pro!

We then sat down and had a little picnic before heading home.

Lovely day, lovely walk.

How to: Cadbury's Creme Egg Chocolate Brownie Recipe

I can't believe it's April already! I intended to get this recipe up for before Easter, but I've only just managed to put this post together today. So, if you've got some leftover Cadburys Creme Eggs floating around your house from Easter, you should definitely give this recipe a try!

This is not one for the faint hearted!

You will need:

Cadbury's Creme Eggs - mini or regular size, both work just fine. I'm using mini ones in this tutorial.
100g of brown sugar.
250g bar of Cadbury's Dairy Milk.
One egg.
125g of room temperature butter.
120g of self raising flour.
1/2tsp of baking powder.

Preheat the oven to 180°C.

Mix together the butter and brown sugar until smooth.

Whilst you are doing this, melt your chocolate in the microwave. Put in for 30 seconds at a time and stir in between. It will only take around 1 minute or less to melt.

Add one egg and the chocolate into the mix.

Mix together again.

Add the flour and the baking powder.

Mix thoroughly.

Line an oven proof dish/baking tray with greaseproof paper (make sure you grease the greaseproof paper - I wasn't aware you had to and it all stuck to the paper the first time I made the brownies!!)
My dish is about 10x10inches.

Spread the mixture evenly into the dish.

Push the Cadbury's Creme Eggs into the mixture.

Into your preheated oven, put the mixture onto the middle shelf and bake for 30 minutes.

Wait for the brownies to cool (or as long as you can bear) before cutting into blocks.

Mine turned out quite sticky and hard to cut into definite chunks, but to be honest no one seemed to mind!

Yum yum.

Enjoy with ice-cream or on their own.

Let me know if you try it out!

How to: Leek and Potato Soup

I fancied some of my favourite soup today, good old L&P.
Yum yum.
If you want to learn how to make Leek and Potato soup, here's my recipe.

What you need:

A bunch of leeks. I used five.
A couple of potatoes.
An onion.
A stock cube - veg or chicken.
Some milk - just under half a pint.
A bit of butter.
Salt and black pepper to season.
Creme Fraiche and chives to garnish.

Chop your leeks...

...onion...

...and potatoes into small chunks.

In a large pan, melt the butter...

...and add in all of your veg and give it a stir. Season with salt and plenty of black pepper. Put a lid on the pan and let the veggies sweat for about 15 minutes on a low heat.

After 15 minutes or so, add a pint and a half of stock and just under half a pint of milk.

Bring the heat up to a simmer and put the lid on again. Let it simmer for another 20 minutes or so - or until the veg is soft.

Now blend...

...and serve.

I like to blob a bit of creme fraiche and a sprinkle of chives on top to garnish and serve with a side of crusty bread.

Mmmmm!

OOTD and Mini Topshop, TKMAXX and Boots haul!

Okay, so I decided to get up even though I felt like poop. (See last post where I said I wasn't going to take any outfit photos!)

Seriously not with it as I cut out my feet on all the pictures - so here's just one full length(ish) one.

Coat and shorts from Zara, tshirt and tights from Primark.

Shoes, New Balance 410 and Aldo bag from ASOS.

I had a wander in town and bumped into a friend so had a quick catch up with her for a while.

I was intending on taking back my crop top from Primark which I left in my car last time I tried to take it back... this time I remembered to take it with me, but forgot the card I paid on! Third time lucky maybe?!
Anyway, I popped into Topshop since it's pay day and picked up a couple of bits. I got this spotty shirt which I've been eyeing up for a while and I also got a grey jersey casual dress. Nothing much really in my local which caught my eye, which is unusual!

I also went into TKMaxx - as always - and picked up a little storage basket for my bedroom, as well as a big barrel round TRESemme hairbrush on clearance. I wanted to try out a 'proper' blowdry on my hair because I saw a video on youtube by Pixiwoo Madness showing you how to do it at home. I'll probably never have time to do it on a day to day basis, but worth a try!

Talking of Pixiwoo, I also picked up a couple more Samantha Chapman Real Techniques makeup brushes because they were on 3 for 2 at Boots. I got my hands on the last Expert Face Brush in the shop (woohoo!) and also picked up another Stippling Brush and Blush Brush.

Ahh, nice new makeup brushes! Now just to deep clean my old ones... CHORE!

Ohh, by the way, check out my Easter Bunny nails!! I tried out ISLAAY's design with some slightly different colours. Make sure you check out her blog for a tutorial, she does some really amazing nail designs.

That's all for now.
Happy Easter, everyone!

Sexy and I Know It!

Something a little different for you today as I'm not feeling too well so don't really fancy taking any outfit photos. I thought I'd just share with you one of my favourite cover videos on youtube.

You may have seen it before, but if you haven't - give it a listen.

Today's Outfit

It's freezing cold and majorly windy, but at least it's not snowing.
Went to town to return the little lace top I got last week from Primark (I wasn't brave enough to get my belly out!) and as soon as I got there, I realised I'd left it in my car. Dooohhhhh!
So, I bought a couple more of the basic t-shirts and some awesome flip flops and left.
Not a very productive day, however, I did buy lots of Creme Eggs as I'm going to be trying to make some amazing looking Creme Egg Brownies for Easter. Mmmm.
