A German wedding!

Great news! My brother finally proposed to his lovely girlfriend and they are getting married later on this year.

The wedding will be abroad and I'm not really sure what to wear. I've had a quick scout round and came across this dress from ASOS. Is cream and black suitable for a wedding?! I've never been to one before. I've only been abroad once. I don't know what to expect. Oh God.
HELP!

You can see a video of it being worn there, too. Wondering if the backless/plunging neckline is a little to risque?

Find me some nice dresses, people!

  1. Where is the wedding being held? Is it in a church or a hotel? What is appropriate for one venue may not be for another. Although that dress could be worn in a church with a jacket over and then later on for the evening do you can take the jacket off and vamp it up! Lovely dress though if you do end up buying it :)

    1. I'm not too sure on any details yet. I've bought the dress though simply because its free delivery and free returns so I may as well just try it! Definitely going to have to get a little jacket to go with it though I think, I'm always cold.

  2. i suck at choosing appropriate outfits for formal events, but this dress looks acceptable! it depends what kinda wedding it is though, laid back, over the top, standard, traditional, modern etc (don't know whether i think into it too much, ha)

either way that dress is gorgeous. with some black heels and a leather jacket or blazer it would look beautiful!

    1. It doesnt help that I dont know anything about the wedding yet. He literally only proposed last week...we know it's going to be in a couple of months time though, so wont be tooo overly fancy shmansy.

I've just bought it anyway, its always a bit hit and miss with asos quality so thought I'd start shopping early for it just incase this turns out to be crappy. x

  3. Oh, that dress is just gorgeous..I agree, if it is at a church you'd be better off covering it up a little bit with a blazer, but it's perfect for the evening. Such a gorgeous fabric!

  4. That lace detailing is amazing! I agree with the above comment about covering up with a blazer; something bright or pastel maybe? I figure some sort of festive color (that obviously isn't white) should complement the dress quite nicely :)

  5. Darling... as far as a wedding invite (sibling or not), here is what you have to consider:
    - where is it held, and when? cause it determine what is the season, you dont want to wear anything open at -4 degree.
    - what time is the wedding reception -day or night? where? garden? mountain? beach? all have to be considered down to shoes, accessories and make up
    - is there a theme / dress code?
    - dont overdress and beat the bride, but still have to look fab.
    - if you are one of the brides maids, make sure you stand out but still blend in (i hope you know what i mean)
good luck girl! theres always pinterest for your reference too!

    1. Thanks for the comment. The wedding is in germany in the middle of summer, so I'm hoping not -4 degrees.

I'll definitely not outshine the bride!
